Preparing Dangerous Goods – Infectious Substances Handling

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course is intended to meet the regulatory training need in compliance with the new training provisions on DGR 63rd edition based on job functions, to be implemented, with effect from 1st January 2023. 

H.1.1.2 states that personnel must be trained to competently perform the function for which they are responsible. These responsibilities are determined by the specific functions the personnel perform and not by their job titles.

This course specially targets personnel who want to attain mastery level at handling Class 6.2, Infectious substances. It focuses on the general principles of identification,packing, marking, labeling and documentation on common UN numbers with their corresponding packing instructions. Course covers training and assessment on essential skills and knowledge in preparing these infectious substances shipments suitable for air transportation. 

Upon completion of this 3 days competency-based training assessment course, this individual is equipped with the specialized knowledge and skills in handling infectious substances confidently and ensuring safety standards are strictly adhered to. 

 

COURSE OUTLINE (Following DGR 63rd Edition H.6.1.A)

Module 0 – Understanding the basics of dangerous goods 

  • Dangerous goods applicability 
  • Understanding the general limitations
  • Identifying roles and responsibilities
  • Understanding the importance of classification and packaging
  • Understanding  hazard communication
  • Familiarizing with basic emergency response

Module 1 – Classifying Dangerous Goods – Infectious Substances

  • Evaluate a substance or an article against the classification criteria
  • Determine dangerous goods description
  • Review special provisions

Module 2 -Preparing dangerous goods shipment- Infectious Substances

  • Assess packing options including quantity limitations
  • Apply packing requirements
  • Apply marks and labels
  • Assess use of overpack
  • Prepare documentation

ACCREDITATION & EXAMINATION

SAAA’s co-branded IATA Secured Digital Award (SDA) Certificate is awarded to participants who successfully obtained a grade of 80% or higher based on overall assessment format. Pass with distinction is awarded to participants who did exceptionally well at above 90%.

Training commences from 9am to 6pm.

 

WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND OF FEES

On withdrawal of course upon acceptance, participant is required to write to SAAA Cargo Services Pte Ltd through their respective companies. 

Refund is only applicable based on the notification period. Else, below penalty applies.
